Weird lump on my marbled gar..

Hello MFK,

I purchased a marbled Gar from a LFS a couple days ago and I just noticed an odd lump on its side. When I was at the LFS I remember picking one that was flawless, but I believe the LFS owner accidently caught me the wrong fish. Anyways, I have it now and I was wondering if this kind of lump would ever heal? At first it was swimming a but odd (swaying around) but after the first night it began to behave normally (at least compared to my hujeta gar).

Marbled Gar size: 6in

Tank Info: 4' x 14" x 24" // 55ish gallons
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5.0ppm

Housed with payara scomb and hujeta of similar size

Don't see a good shot of it. Looks more internal. Looks like the bicuda swallowed something and not passing. That's just a guess but I would suggest keep the water clean and add some Epsom salt.

May need a better shot.

As long as it's acting normal. Then monitor.
 
I'll try to get a better shot when I'm home, but yea I will definitely add some salt
 
Looks like scales are missing. Poor water or heater contact. Some sort of injury. Keep an eye out. If it's acting different or area in question starts to deteriorate then I'd worry.

Ok sounds good, thanks! It's not acting skittish or showing signs of stress so that's good. Another thing I was wondering is concerned with its beak. I know the rounded beak is from running into the walls and whatnot. Does that heal over time too? My aquarium has blacked out sides and back.
 
Shoukd straighten out as it gets bigger and no more running into the tank.

Ahh it was a great fish while it lasted! Sucks, I liked how it was already tilapia trained
