when i turned on the lights this morning there was a bunch of plastic shavings in my tank floating around and getting sucked up by the filter? i took some pictures of it and it looked like the plastic shavings were coming from one of my three different plastic plants i have. it looked as if it was peeling. i keep my tank water at 80F and i just turned it down to 78F. don't know if it will help with the peeling, but has anyone else had this problem with their plastic plants?

Are you sure it's not your fish chewing them up?

my fish hardly even swim through the plant. i have no mainly herbivorous fish in my tank currently.

u sure those are plastic shavings? what kinda filter do you have? almost looks like your filter meida may have disentigrated. Happens with whisper type filters.

I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at the pics. Happened to me about 2 weeks ago with the bio wheels from my magnum. It happened after I cut it off to rinse out the filter and as soon as I cut back on the stuff came flowing out. Not sure if it is disenigrating or just stuff in it. Mine stopped right away though and cleared up in about an hour. I keep meaning to get new bio wheels because it never happened before but they are old.

yea i just looked at the filter media and it did show this stuff coming from it. the plant also looked funny and decayed a lot, so i took it out.
