Somewhere
I kinda dont get it.
I have 55 gall tank with cichlids in it , all healthy and active, but when i put there new fish , in couple hour fish gets fungus. Yesterday i bought 2 oscars, i put them into tank and today both of them have fungus,so i transfer them into 10 gall hospital tank and moved 2 convicts into 55.
Now 3 hours later i see those convicts are getting fungus too. I checked water parms and its as it should be. I did 15% water change on saturday and tank is clean without any leftover food.
Filter was cleaned month ago (sponge) , temperature is 79
All new fish i got from local pet store , and never had any death fish.
Couple months ago i got new male convict , and same think , he got fungus. I transfer him into hospital tank and he got in perfect condition in couple weeks.
What could be wrong??
also in my little tank i got white worms, not many of them just couple, i know they wont harm fish but are they good for enviroment or i should get rid of them??
My hospital tank is 10 gall , and i used melafix, pimafix and salt !!

btw i feed them hikari pellets, and once a week blood worms

thank you for any help

cheers WS

You should post a pic. Fungus is kinda rare, its probably bacterial infections. But without a pic I cant say for sure. Also, those white worms are either planaria or some kinda detritus worm, both are harmless and they break down waste and leftover food.

My guess is that originally you had an infected fish, and the problem never really went away. Maybe it looked as though the fish was healed because you didnt see any fungus/bacteria anymore, but the fish could of still been carrying. Now when you have added newer fish it was transfered to them.

I'd say to treat all tanks/fish in order to get rid of it completely.

well today one of my oscars died, he was covered in white and was really skinny, also my hospital tanks water got milky white ( tank was cycled couple months ago) after i added medications.
I am still kinda noob in all this, so sorry to ask , but if i would treat my 55gall with medication to help sick fish , would they harm my other fish??

What is your nitrate reading?

What exactly do you see on the fish? Like what does the infection look like? If it looks like the fish were sprinkled with salt they got ich. If they are like whitish and/or reddish rashes, sometimes looking crusty or like an open sore, its a bacterial infection. Although a pic would say for sure. Cause it could be something else.

You mentioned your Oscar was skinny and died, did it stop eating? Are the other fisg eating?

If the whole tank is affected its best to medicate the whole tank. Wats all the fish you have in your tank?

Also forgot to mention, do you know your water readings like ammonia, nitrites, nitrates etc?

i got jaguar cichlid, pike cichlid, 4 convits, jewel cichlid all of them are healthy only one convict male which was sick and got better , not shows signs again
its like white cotton on them , also their swiming parts have white and looks like its rotting (not in flesh)
convict male he had it but then he got ok and now again
i am really tired of it ,
my 30 gall with pgocentrus nattereri is ok , no sickness no nothin , ll of my fish i feed hikari pellets and blood worms only once a week

How did you clean your filter and how much Ammonia, NitrIte and NitrAte are in your tank water?

Agreed it def sounds like a water quality issue.Test for ammonia nitrite and nitrate and post the #s so the folks here can help you sort it out.
Thats alot of fish for a 55g tank stress could be playing a role as well.

White cotton sounds like fungus.
It is easy to mistake bacterial infection from fungal infections. Most meds for fungal infections can fortunately cover bacterial infections.
