Hi this is a very random thought/question but I figured I may as well ask. ok so I have a Lake Tanganyikan themed tank which i have recently planted which so far is going very well. The only problem I have is the way my 350kg of rocks are set up I cannot move them forward easily, and they are too close to the back to plants any vallis ( I also have 4 large power heads behind my rock to stop debris settling there so no substrate really settles there for roots to even get a grip into) I was wondering if i could somehow suspend vallis planted in pots or a trench of Hessian just behind some of the larger rocks to grow up form here. so they would be suspended behind larger rocks. so my question is one is this possible and would the vallis survive like this? two how would I do this or how would you do it?

thanks again.

Possible, if they get enough light it will work :)

pots is the way to go.
Just a quick thought why not leave out the plants and stick with a true Tanganyikan theme and use rocks only. This is how i do it and to help maintain nitrates i keep the top covered with duck weed.

vallis is native in tanganyika, so i am sticking with the theme I want it for looks not for nitrates. i do 50% water change twice a week, so never have nitrate issues.
