i was wondering, in my new tank i just got i wanted to put sand but i was wondering say i got play sand from the park down the road, and i let it settle in the tank (no fish in tank) and as it all settles i let the tank cycle would this be a way to make sure the sand is safe / clean? not sure if this makes sense but hopefully somone ill understand

I wouldn't tank sand from a sandbox from a park or from a bunker on a golf course. Pool sand is really really cheap if you want to go that route or get new play sand, just rinse really really well.

What's going in the tank?

ehh today i had a weird thought come to my head, to decorate it with plants and pots ect then put rosey reds and guppies ghost shrimp and maybe a few goldfish in? since all those are classified as "Feeders" down here they'd help the tank cycle since i just set it up eysterday so i guess till i think of what fish to put in for good thats gonna go in and be food for my pbass soon=P

Lots of sandboxes are giant litter boxes for many animals, you can get alota health hazards from playing in the sand. I wouldent bother.
