Weird red spot on Black Belt Cichlid (Paratheraps Maculicauda)

View attachment 1040467View attachment 1040468Got this guy from Jeff Rapps 2 weeks back, but he came in with this weird red spot on him. He's a wild caught fish so I figured it was just a wound from a fight in the wild, but I think it might be an anchorworm or something. Help?

It does look like a parasite. I would use aquarium salt or try rid-ich (sp)? Either should kill it,

I personally doubt that it's anchorworm, but I would still try what Tom suggested in your other thread, try applying iodine to the spot. Hydrogen peroxide is another option.

While your fish doesn't have an ulcer as described in the following link, it does explain the methods for treating external wounds, cuts, abrasions, etc. The goal is to clean the wound and kill any/all bacteria.
