weird seethrough thing sticking out of bichir

My bichir had a cut on his side about a month ago, I think he got it on a piece of rock, anyway its looked like its almost healed now, except there is a lump there and a whispy seethrough bit sticking out. I originally thought it was part of the fish or something but now I'm thinking maybe its some kind of a parasite.


is it a parasite?
what would you recommend to kill this as, I wasnt too worried originally as the Bichir is acting very normal except he isnt growing as fast as he was when I got him, Although he has always had the Lump, so im sure he was infected when I got him.

Anyway all the other fish are happy and healthy and show no signs of damage or lumps etc, so If someone could help me work out whats going on it would be a real big help.

It would be great if i didnt have to take a picture cause he moves a lot and its hard to get a clear pic of his wound but I can try if it helps.

I lookedd it up and thought it may be anchorworm, but its lacking the trademark V shaped tail ( like this ----< ) instead its a seethrough long strand that has a loop at the end, like the eye of a needle.
 
It would be greatly helpful to post a pic. I cant promise ill be able to give you an answer, but im sure someone on here can, but be sure they'll request a pic.
 
okay well its 4am here, So I will have to post a pic tomorrow, I was just hoping someone else has had a similar thing happen. when i read about anchor worm i was positive until I saw a pic, its pretty distinctive.

I'll see what people have to say tomorrow and if they still need a pic im happy to try its just i cant promise anything amazing, thanks for your quick responce though TJfish

ñot the best pictures as you can tell but I think I think it accurately shows it.
a swollen wound with it sticking out, with a needle eye like loop at the end. I originally thought it was a rib poking out, or part of the intricate scale design.
 
Thanks a lot Darius, I´ve never seen anything like this so I´m confused. Could you tell me what I should do if it is an infected wound?
I have a few spare tanks I can put him in as quarantine
 
Yes, best thing would be, to put him into another tank. Rise the temp of the water. When you catch him out, try if you can press that puss out of the wound but don´t use much force.
 
To me, that looks like a internal parasite of some sort... swollen anus, and stringy looking poop like thing hanging out... not sure what type it is though...

If i were you i'd probably QT the fish if hes in with other tankmates to prevent it from spreading...
 
After checking out another thread, you may want to look up "Hexamita" and other internal parasites...
 
trust me its not his anus its on the side of his body. thats why I thought it was an external parasite. It started as a scratch wound.
