Went to Just Pets in NY today, they had a few oddballs, but the most odd thing was the 8 or so inch silver. When it's mouth was closed, its lower jaw honestly came a half inch past its the top of it's head (and no not its barbels, its actual jaw). Weirder yet, it's jaw didn't look like it had been damaged, it looked like it was naturally born this way, yet I've never seen another like this. I was just wondering if this happens frequently or not, and if so why? Also sorry for not having a pic, I didn't even think to take one untill I was halfway back.

i have seen this frequently
i visited panda aquatics in singapore that breeds arowanas year 2000. i was thinking of importing it to new zealand you see, too expensive anyways.
they ahd a tank of baby silvers, see they can breed silvers easily, he said that you can easily do it, sometimes not doing anything, they just breed
he said that when his kid breeds them, about 5% come out ith a defect.
ome of shirt fins all over, some have eyes missing. some even had two heads.
he said the most common is that from birth the lower jaw goes over the top jaw. but the fish will survive and can get relaly big.
in fact he said that when arowanas get really really huge... naturally the bottom jaw slightly goes over annyways just some fish has it more than others.
apparently this is common bu if you see it in a small speciment like this and its so prominent, it might only get worse with age. so iwouldnt get it personally.

wouldnt mind a 2 headed one though:D

This defect is called PLJ, Protruding Lower Jaw.

thats what i do i think thats another way to tell if is a boy and girl out of my 3 just 1 has it

and now heres a pic of the one i was talking about...which has PLJ like Bderick67 said
