Weird Smell?

Hey Guys.
I have a Dovii 4 foot grow out tank, and recently have a weird smell coming from it, it's noticeable in the whole room.

Setup: an inch of Midnight black gravel. a large sponge filter and a huge(33cm) terracota pot for hiding.
Fish: One Male Dovii. 6inches.
Food: Hikari Massivore. 1 pellet, 3 times a day.
WC: 25% every second day.

If its the WC I could step that up to 25% daily..

Put some massivore in a jar, add water, close lid, let sit for a couple of days, open jar, take a whiff. What's that smell? LOL!

It most likely is the massivore pellets they have a lingering funky smell.

Try feeding a smaller pellet like the cichlid gold / carnivore

If dovii is only 6 in pellets might be a bit big and it might spit out little bits from its gills when chewing? this is where most of the smell comes from the little pieces staying in tank. Whereas with smaller pellet can chew and make less mess!

And yes taking out of the packet - i thought dog food had a strong smell lol
