The other day I caught a little pumpkinseed that had some weird sore on its back on both sides of its top spines. Then today while I was down at the river I saw 3 or 4 with similar sores in the same spots. Is it a parasite or something else? If I could catch one then I would take a picture but they were being little bassturds today.

image.jpg He's fast. But these are the sores I was talking about they look like there's something hanging on him almost looks like an anchor worm or something similar. It's on both sides of the fish too

I was thinking anchor worm when I saw the pic. Is the something hanging on him white with a "V" tail? If yes, I would definitely say anchor worm. I had luck just removing the fish from the tank and pulling the anchor worm off with tweezers. the affected fish were southern redbelly dace (small fish). All of the dace completely recovered with no ill effects or scars. That may not be the proper treatment for them, but it worked for me.

Fishmastermike: Could your issue be ich? I had a recent outbreak of ich. I treated with copper parasite treatment (one was mardel coppersafe) and it helped clear up the situation. I did lose a few fish though.

These are big sores though. I thought maybe ich but I thought ich was a bunch of little white dots. These are big bumps that seem to open at the peak. They almost look like small mountains with snow at the top
