So in probably 15 years of fish keeping a first has happened. Two weeks ago I lost my 4 year old red dragon flowerhorn. Fish was awesome to keep I really enjoyed flowerhorn but sometimes hated my 90 being tied up to one fish. I currently think I’d like to take a little break from them. Then Monday I was admitted to the hospital. My girlfriend went home to grab me some stuff Tuesday morning and my 65 gallon native grow out with 6 perch and 1 walleye were all floating. Now just last week I cleaned a canister filter from my 90 and replaced the AC110 on my 65 with it. I believe the death to be ammonia spike. It defiantly was not the news I wanted to hear while I’m stuck in the hospital. So while I sit here bored out of my mind I’m planning on what direction to go in fish keeping.
So my minds all scrambled with the endless possibilities. I do know 150% I’d like to keep one or two Ompok catfish again. I’m a huge fan of the Wels and since I have no means to keep one and they’re illegal the Ompok will suffice. So they’ll more then likely go in the 65 gallon. And fortunately I have a 65 breeder so a little over 3ft side to side and 18.5” front to back. I’m thinking maybe doing some type of community tank with them.
As for the 90 I think at least a silver Dat. They’ve always interested me and I could house one I know for a decent amount of time until I upgrade to either a 180-210.
Fish that I’m currently very interested in keeping would be pike cichlids due to the snakehead resembelence, barbs, German blue rams, Jardini Arrowana ( don’t think that be possible currently maybe a growout )Angel Fish, Clown Loaches.
So I guess does anyone have any suggestions on fish or themes for these two tanks ? I posted not that long ago about an Asian themed tank and would like that with the 65 since the Ompok would fit the bill for that.
