Weird white stuff on Wolf fish

So my wolf fish had this weird little white things on its body. They looked like small pieces of debris but what worried me is that they wernt falling off when he moved. I passed a net over them while he was laying still and the white things would come off, hes also still eating no problem and basically being his usual log self (its a hoplias malabaricus). Unfortunately i ddnt take a pic before i basically rubbed off the white. Should i be worried or is it possible it was just dirt that got stuck to the scales? The other fish in the tank are fine but did not have any little white. My oscar has had little white things like this on occasion but they would fall off while he swam.

Also i forgot to mention i have white gravel as a substrate which is why im sometimes unsure if the white stuff is debris from crushed gravel or in fact a disease

Most likly nothing to worry about if it came off. Somtimes small particas of "stuff" get stuck to the slime coat. Should be nothing to worry about.
