Hi , about a week ago these black spots strated to grow on him. he ha them now on his tail , tailbase and face. they are al new and grew pretty quickly. tank p are 0,0,10 . i know thay gf tend to change coloration and patterns but im wondering wetger this is a color change or some kind of external disease loke fungus. what do you think? do you have tips how to tell the diffrent? he is active and has good appetite, and he just revovered from dropsy about 2 weeks ago(thats why he is quarantined)

Are they areas elevated at all like bump or any scale damage. If not it’s just color changing. Goldfish can go under drastic color changes after being bought and put into a comfortable tank/environment. Tank looks small Brie a goldfish and not sure if I’m just not seeing it but is there a filter in the tank? I do see the bubbler but goldfish produce more ammonia than other fish and easy to accidentally poison their tanks of under filtered

Think it could be just coloring. No tip to tell the difference but that fact it has a pattern to the tail is off. Infection would be irregular but that’s just IMO.

This is spot on. I once had a black lionhead become completely orange not one speck of black left with in 2 month's of having him. I was well gutted because I wanted a black one not a bloody orange one lol
