I am plugging a 2.5" bulkhead on the bottom of a 180 with 1/2" plexi. piece. I bought #16 at the rec. of the TAP Plastic associate, would that work? I plan on putting some weight on top and letting it rest for at least a week (not in a hurry).
Should be fine..... I use 16 on all my acrylic projects. Just make sure you use enough.... Took me weeks of using the stuff before I figured out if your using a brush you really have to gob it on there..... Like it would almost be better to just use a surenge.
I've also found that it seems to look a lot better if you just apply the stuff and press the piece on. When I use clamps I get some crazy crack like spiderwebbing going on with the glue. Without clamping it's so clear you can't hardly even tell there's any between the 2 pieces of acrylic.
Once you patch it, that will be the point of no return. If you change your mind later, you will have to drill it elsewhere. Additionally, if you sell it, patches will lower the value of the tank.
The best way to plug the holes is with threaded bulkheads and threaded plugs.
