So, I’m setting up my “new to me” Acrylic tank and noticed when cleaning inside one of the center overflows, that the bottom seam (where it meets the floor of the tank) was leaking water out of it. I did some inspecting and it looks as it was never glued. All other 3 sides are good and sealed. I’ve looked around my area and can’t find anyone who carries Weld-on 16 or 40. Now my local Homdepot carries Weld-on products but they are labeled

weld-on 700
Weld-on 717
Weld-on 735
and so on with the 700’s numbers

My question is are any of those weld-on products the same and or aquarium safe. The tank is empty and dry but I’m in a slight time crunch to get it back up and running so I can get my fish out of their undersized temporary homes.

Any advice or solutions would be awesome.7F914E4E-B1BD-43E0-AB62-3A2FF44E18C4.jpeg78492672-2CF2-42A4-8FC0-1F1F25714B87.jpegE1C62FDA-9622-414B-9225-F0F6D1414EF6.jpeg

Ideally u need weld-on #3 or #4 solvent and a needle applicator to fix that box correctly… Sometimes u can find weld-on #16 from craft type stores like snobby lobby or jo ann fabrics. #16 is decent for minor/non structural repairs but it may not last forever. Honestly ur better off making sure ur stand pipes in the overflow are water tight than using any of the 700 #’s of weld on for PVC if u need to fire her up immediatly. It will always come back to haunt u if u dont do it right while u got the chance. Be patient. Cple more weeks wont change ur fishes life either way. Also, any acrylic tank should be placed directly on the wood top sheet. No foam, no mats, no bs… that will come back to haunt u also. Level with shims under the top sheet of plywood and or under the stand. Foam and leveling mats are for plate bottom glass tanks only.

Thank you for the reply. I am unfortunately in a slight rush. I have 4 rays that are ready to get in their new home. It’s only the one side so I would think it would still be pretty structurally sound.

As for the foam I read so many threads of yes you need it, the manufacture requires it and then you absolutely don’t need it. So I just kinda went with the majority of the comments saying it wouldn’t hurt to have it but it’s not needed. So if it’s going to cause problems in the long run I’ll remove it?
