Getting a welded steel stand made (powder coated) for a 450gal (6x4x2.5) next week... sent these sample pics of stands to the fabricator for a visual of what I wanted.

Will have square stock diagonal bracing on all 4 corners. Would it be better to have legs on the bottom of the stand (to elevate sump) rather than having the stand straight flat on the ground??... or would it be better to have it flat, so you can level it if needed (which most likely, will have to be done anyways... the tank will be kept in the garage). Anyways, would like to hear some input and insight from the people who do have their tanks on welded stands. Thoughts? advice? etc.?

Thanks in advance!

I would either make it flat on the ground, or put boards across the legs to distribute weight.

If it's going on a concrete floor, go with whatever you like better, I dont think it would matter then:)
I have a steel stand with legs, but I had to put boards across to distribute the load.

What size tank is that in the 3rd 4th an 5th pics? I want that.

the 4 legged thery is kinda scary, that over a thousand pounds dead weight on each leg, have them run a squar frame flush with the ground all the way around to, maybe even an extra brace or two in the middle, peice of mind is priceless

Thanks for the insight, Ruxpin. I'll keep that in mind! ;)
