i finally got my 40gal. set up and cycled which means i just got my knifefish today!!! dont worry i didnt stick a clown knife in there or anything it was an ABK. whats cool about him is hes closer to african black knife fish than to african brown knifefish, sorta like this http://www.****************/catalog_pages/wild/knifefish_african_black.htm .

i was also using my forty gallon to put my senagal bichir in because he was in a 12 gal. grow out so when i got home i cut open the bag with the knife in it and attached it to the side of my tank to let him ajust to the water temp.. so i went over to my 12gal. to bag up my senagal in a ziplock bag (a big gallon sized one, not one of those little ones) and brought the bag back to my 40gal. to clamp to the side of it when i found out my knife fish had actually JUMPED out of the bag and into the tank:WHOA:. there he was just casually swimming around while my friend and i look at him all confused. i knew that they could jump but i didnt expect that at all:WHOA:. will post pics later.

Welcome to the Knife fish club. They are absolute beauties. They like to hide, but when they come out...it's a very nice treat to see. :D

here he is hiding in the favorite hiding spot of both the knife and my senagal (a little cave my friend and i made in the coner of the tank with the rocks he gave me), i took the pic just after feeding so you can see the big bumps in my bichirs belly.

(unfortunatly) this is the best pic i got of him. (hes in the same cave in the corner that they like)

and here is a full tank shot. i am planning on buying more hiding spots and some plants soon. you can see the glowing eyes of my knifefish and one eye of my bichir in their favorite cave.

once again, sorry for the bad pics.

thanks, im happy but i wish i had another top dweller in there.

It is better for him to be alone for now ..get him use to everything and used to eating all kinds of foods.. you will get the top dweller soon enough..and don't think he won't be on top alot..once he gets comfortable he will be up and around and everywhere.. :) He is good looking...!!

thanks Liz, i think getting him to eat a bunch of different foods will be the hardest for now cause he still has settled in enough to eat much.
