Hello,

I have gone back to plastic plants in my goldfish tank after years of trying to grow live plants properly. I know that there is enough light to grow plants and I had been adding liquid fertiliser on a regular basis. The most sucessful had been Anubias, but the water got too cold for them over winter and they did not got a chance to grow back.

The new plants have brought back some much needed greenery to the tank. I hope to post some photos over the next few days.

I hate to hear about your bad luck. I quit before for about 8 months before the plant bug got me to planting again, and my success was a lot better. Good luck on your new setup, and enjoy the break from bright lights and fertilizing.

uhhh dude goldfish don't go with plants at all. apparently they eat them and just make it heck for the plants to survive. try it with tropical fish.

Tank looks good but why do you keep goldfish instead of more exotic fish?

what is wrong with goldfish ?

nothing i guess but they just seem more of a pond fish i personally would rather have tropical fish but if you enjoy the gold fish then good for you:)

Hello,

I have a 4 foot tank in the lounge containing red hooks, spotted dollars, congo tetras and a synodontis catfish. The golfish are in a conservatory and in the winter and it can get very cold. I have just put two in because I want them to get as large as possible.

lets go with some mineral rich substrate... keep liquid ferts and watch the lights keep them new and make sure you have enough power goldfish are terrible plant companions but ive seen it done and wisteria is great for goldfish water quality

Yeah, goldfish and plants mix about as well as oil and water.
