well i got some stuff from the lake

i got one huge clam ( to filter feed and just to help with the tank ) and 2 apple snails in the tank and some plants in the smaller tank ( 1.5 to 2 gallons ) and some snails for that to. and one snail for my female betta tank.


so what will my clam help with? and yes i washed the clam and snails first and no i didnt put the plants in the bigger tank. anyways will the clam be fine with my cichlids?

I had 5 freshwater clams in with my africans. few weeks later im down to 2... now i only have 1 left... So idk, maybe my bad luck. Risk it if you want.

I wouldnt be taking native clams or mussels. For the fact that your tank probably doesnt have enough nutrients to support it and the fact that most are endangered.

How deep is your substrate? They like to bury themselves.

there was a whole crap load of clams ( also alot broken ones to ) but i just kept the biggest. do they need a mate to breed or are they hermemphidet?
