I posted awhile back that I had successfully put my 8 semi-juvenile (4") turquoise discus in with my 18" Silver ARO. They got along for over 4 months.
Then my ARO , now 22" to 24", went on a hunger strike and stopped eating the Jumbo Krill that I'd been feeding him since I had him at 7", last September.
I started feeding him market shrimp which he readily took to. I E-mailed "Wetwebmedia" and asked them the nutritional value of the shrimp. They suggested that I not feed market shrimp because of its thiamine content and the side effect of vitamin B-1.
They suggested to feed tilapia instead. So for about a week I've been feeding tilapia. I don't know if feeding the "fish" to my ARO gave him a taste for fish, or if he would have developed this bad behavior anyway, but he began harassing the discus.
I was lucky enough to find a LFS who would take him.
