Fish Tank
As I was about to do a WC on the 260G this last weekend, what I have been paranoid about eventually came true. The silicone between the euro-brace and one of length glass panels is starting to crack. I'll spare all the details, but I've drained the tank basically gave the Lei and two severums to my brother in law. I'll set up a small tank for the gold nugget and blue phantom (kids are attached to them the most as they are the first in the tank).

I'm aware of my options to reseal everything again, but one thing is certain is I cannot have this tank filled in my living and around my family. My brother-in-law(s) will put it in his garage (he doesn't care about water in there LOL) and perhaps they will take apart and reseal. I'll probably just give him my sump and plumbing.

I'm going to keep the metal stand, wood rap, and equipment. I'm going to step away from a bit and see what I want to do. I'm leaning towards a very similar set-up from what I have now but with most likely an acrylic tank this time around. I've learned a lot with this tank, and I know what I would do differently if I was to redo in terms of filtration and design. I've also learned tons of this forum and inspired by some of the awesome tanks on here. I may hit up some of you that have had custom acrylic tanks to get your inputs too...

Anyway, it sucks and just top of mind and wanted to share. I'll still "stop by" now and then, and, I'll share IF I end up setting up the replacement peninsula tank.

can be a tuff choice, but if not comfy with it best not have it till you are, I stepped out almost 2 years ago, the 400 gallons in my living room was starting to stress me. being west coast the earth quake thing was starting to worry me.

I am a bird man now.

Geez man im sorry this happened. Tbh i dont blame you i wouldnt want a reseal in my living area around my kids either. Sucks to have this happen. I dont think you'll be able to stay away long, hoping for a quick return. I appreciate all the help you've given me when i was setting up my tank. Hope you'll be active on here.

Btw ive had two glasss tanks bust a seal. One was right after i gave it to my kids bball coach. No more glass tanks in the house unless they are small. Strictly acrylic from here on out.

Thanks all, in times like this only another fishkeeper "really" understands.

I have (or had) a rimless tank. Two of the 4 cross braces broke on one the same side/end. The builder came and fixed it. My brother in law has a tank from them and the EUROBRACE started breaking away from the ling side. Mine has not separated, yet. It is a question of when and not if. There's something fundamentally wrong with his implementation, as it's coming apart at the same area as my brother's.

Fortunately, I've not experienced a bust, yet. I'm not looking to find out either bro. Yeah, small glass no problem, big (for me) glass no more. I'm in breakdown and move it mode. I'll have to do some searches on hear for the short list of acrylic builders IF that does happen. Did you use Mid-West Customs? Any other good ones?

Thanks again.

Ingot quotes from mid west, fishtanks direct, and i think truvu. Cant remember.

I went with mid west based off of other members recommendations.

I think soupa2 soupa2 has a fishtanks direct tank

Well I felt I needed to move fast and just wanted everything out. You could say I'm essentially back where I started.

Tank, sump and plumbing are gone. Im keeping my stand, wood panelling and all my equipment.

I'll admit it's only been a few weeks and I've already been looking at replacement acrylic tank. I've been really liking Midwest Customs and see why many like them...
