Well, that puts things in perspective.

This bothers me a lot too. When I worked at petsmart I had to field this all the time. "I want 10 of those oscars for my ten gallon aquarium." was a common occurrence. Same as african cichlids and fantails. People get mad when they find out they can't do what they want. They even say they will get a bigger tank later on, like a 29. I also think that fish stores need to be more ethical in what they sell. Almost no one has a tank big enough to properly house a rtc, for instance. Or even worse, alligator gar or airipaima.

I always thought it unethical to sell some fish, because it's about a 100% guarantee that the animal will not be properly cared for. RTC, giant gouramies, iredescent sharks, any species of large schooling fish and Goldfish. Yep Goldfish. Probably the single most mistreated animal on the planet. I never could understand why people treat animals the way goldfish get treated.

Didn't realize how massive some of these guys get. I mean, I know they get big, but there's a difference between seeing a number on a page and seeing that a giant gourami is about the size of a man's chest. And that's one of the smallest on the list.
This should be posted on the wall of every LFS, along with this: http://www.scribd.com/doc/112426463/Marine-Tankbusters
