I got my elong about 2 weeks ago and it's already eating non-live. I had only fed it some fish once last weekend. I was expecting another fight like my tat gave me. The LFS I bought it from had only fed it live. I will try to get some pix. I am planning on buying a house in a couple months and I'm going to get another larger tank and give the 75 to the P. I want to try lower-light live plants in it. Right now, it's in a 40 breeder w/ a couple pieces of driftwood and a single silk plant.

I do have one question right now. I have an AC70 filter and a Penguin 350 in there right now, so there's a decent amount of current. I have a spare AC70 PowerHead that I'm wondering if I should put in there or not.

yea i put an ac 70 with my black rhom when he was in his 20 for awile but he could go under a fake stump when he got sick of the current plus i put all my powerheads on timers that you get at home depot so at night theres no current it starts at 8 am and ends 12 pm when i wake up and sleep its pretty cool

anyone else?

are P's usually easy to get off live, at least relatively?

When I had my manueli, it took maybe 6 months to get it off of live. I thought the easiest to get it off of live was to offer it shrimp but it was eventually silversides that won the battle.

That's how it was with my Hydrolycus tatuaia. the guys at the LFS said they had never fed it live, but it didn't hesitate to eat shrimp or tilapia or scallops. I haven't tried pellets yet, but i'll probably wait until it's a little less skittish. It seems to be doing very well even though it doesn't have a TON of current in the tank.
