I am moving to farm country and the well water has been tested at 11 ppm NO3-N. That's about 50 ppm Nitrate. I have a large 220-gal aquarium with SA river fish (pacu, TSN) and already run Nitrates high, so it at least won't be a shocker to them. But I was wondering if others might have a similar issue with their well water, and ultimately what they use to condition their water before and after water changes. Do you have a separate RO filter? If so, do you run through a softener beforehand? Is there any benefit to DI water for a freshwater setup like this? Minerals needed added back? Let me know how your systems work and how you remove nitrates from your source water. (I know they're other ways to remove nitrates, like a planted aquarium, but for the moment I'm focusing on solutions for nitrate removal for water sources.)
