So about 25 mins ago I found something odd on one of my serpae tetras. Then I realized OH **** there's a huge hole in it's side and it's bleeding out. Put it out of its misery, there was no recovering from this and it looked like it was in shock. Thoughts? I guess I didn't catch it sooner since I thought "oh he's a few years old, maybe he's just losing color". And to be fair I did have to rescue it from my aunt's really neglected tank and was expecting this one to go belly up sooner. The fish are all a few years old. The 20 long they are in has basically been a quarantine along with a few convict growouts.
Here are a few pics: His slime coat is coming off a bit too but it could be from the clove oil/vodka mix I put him out with. Hopefully they help, kinda lost on this.
Whatever he had was most likely internal, was showing on both sides before.
Thinking it was hemorrhagic septicemia or an ulcer of some type and one of the baby convicts opened up that wound if they saw it look weak. I've only ever seen something similar once, with a molly. Looks pretty deep though. UGH hope this won't crash the whole tank since I need to sell it. Should I be concerned for the other fish since this dude's blood was probably leakin' everywhere? Really don't want to have to rip the tank apart and I have to move so setting up another quarantine will be a pain in the butt. All the other fish are very healthy just this guy.... well yeah haha.
