I already added Prazi after today's water change, but hoping somebody might know if a more specific treatment would be preferable.I don't even know what this is, presumably parasites from the amphibian eggs I was feeding him or hitchhiked in on the net.

Could it be any of these?

In the present study, a total of 441 individuals of seven parasite species consisting of one nematode: Raphidascaroides sp., one cestode:Triaenophorus crassus, two digenean trematodes: Aphanurus stossichi and Diplostomum spathaceum, two monogenean trematodes: Silurodiscoides vistulensis and Silurodiscoides siluri, and one crustacean: copepodid stage of Lernaea cyprinacea was found in the catfish. The occurrence of copepodid stage of L. cyprinacea, Raphidascaroides sp. and T. crassus are reported for the first time from S. glanis in Iran.

One erupted this morning, redness. Going to maintain prazi treatment for the time being. If this hasn't stopped in a week I'll probably switch to formalin.

I read the link you posted and researched the parasites listed. One was an anchor worm the other infected the gills. The info was at best vage. It could be harmless requiring an intermediate host, but I wouldn't count on it since it erupted. Could you post another pic of the new sore?

That one is stumping me but it looks like you might have to treat this internally. What's your fish eating these days? I'd either look into buying or making some medicated feed. I doubt you feed it flakes, but there are a number of medicated flakes out there. Additionally I have used Seachem polyguard (broad spectrum) mixed with frozen food and their binding agent "Focus" with good results. They also have other products that can be added to food this way. Are there other fish in the pond? Are you concerned about plants? I have personally never seen an issue with my plants while using the paraguard/polyguard combo in the water, but if you are worried I'd use medicated feed. Just my 2 cents. I'm eagerly awaiting a diagnosis though!

Hey, thanks for the responses! I went back to get photos but all the eruptions have flattened out. There appears to be some slight redness and some odd white areas, but it's healing on its own now. His back is also shaped normally again. I'm going to repeat the prazi treatment in case the worms or cysts dies upon eruption. Without knowing what it was, and knowing the complexity of most parasites, presumably another host animal/intermediate would have been required. If it starts again I'll scoop him into a vessel for some up-close shots. Tentatively considering this as case-closed.
