So i'm sure most ppl know what Pet supplies plus is. Its a pet store chain and today was my first time ever in one. I went in for some reptile supplies that i couldnt find at my regular store so my fiance said u can go here. So i said ok. She had warned me b4 that its not the greatest place so i stayed away until today. They have a small corner with 3 75 gallons and then 3 125's that are divided for different fish. I walk in and new bad things were going on. One tank was full of cichlids and you couldnt even see the back of the tank is was so cloudy. They they had 2 JD'S that were like 7 inches and thick laying on the bottom just about lifeless. They had barracuda in with tropical fish. Then i look close and see a 7 inch clown knife fish for $15 bucks laying on the ground and i was like that poor fish are you serious. Then in the same tank but divided on the other side is a 7 inch wolf fish and i love these things. He was given about the size of a 10 gallon tank for himself. I couldnt take it and i was like i gotta buy all these fish but i couldnt so i chose to save the wolf fish. I would have gotten the clown knife but my fish are aggressive and they are to pretty of a fish to get nipped at. I payed $14 for the wolf fish that anywhere else at this size would cost a grip. I had to do it. The only way i could get the knofe fish is if i dump my jag, and 2 jd's that are babies. Did i do good and should i do more and get the other guy

As bad as you felt about the plight of the fish that are in that store you probably should'nt have purchased any of them.

As much as i didnt want to i had to. This store wont go out of business and i guess they sell all of thier stocks each week. Their prices are so cheap is why they sell. I know some may say i was wrong in buying the fish but i had to. I probly not the only one who would have.

I won't say that you were wrong since you acted with the intention of saving some of the fish and I guess you knew where I was coming from since you stated that they will not go out of business.I'm not too sure I would'nt have done something similar if they had something languishing there that I might have been interested in.If you cant impress upon the owner/manager about the deplorable conditions of their tanks and get them to at least consider better holding options then the next thing to do would be to get word out to would be customers so they will not buy the fish and eventually the store will hopefully discontinue carrying them.Maybe there is some authority you could drop a line to.

you can report them to the authorities, in cali theres a law against the mistreatment of animals/fish and that is (atleast im pretty sure form what you were telling me) mistreatment of animals

Nice job saving a fish :)

It always sucks to run into this places and see them mistreating fish that just need a little TLC :)

....and how about the lack of respect this place shows it's customers by displaying merchandise in such a way.

i let the guy know that the tanks werent looking good and he said he new. But you know thats all BS. I will go back in a week or 2 to see if anything has improved

Not only displaying it, but selling it that way. Those fish sound to be in terrible condition. Make sure you QT that fish you bought.

i will say the tank the wolf fish was in looked better than all others. I checked him over and theres no signs of ick or anything and even tho hes not full size man does he have some power.
