West African
1 Rope Fish
2 Leopard Bush Fish
3 Senegal Bichirs
3 Butterfly Fish

South American
3 Leaf Fish
1 Black Ghost Knife
1 Banjo Cat Fish

At home I have two 10gal tanks on located in the basement and one upstairs. The fish inside these tanks are:

Downstairs

1 Rope Fish
3 Leaf Fish
2 Leopard Bush Fish
1 Banjo Cat

Upstairs
1 Black Ghost Knife
3 Senegal Bichir
3 African ButterflyFish

I pretty much Mixed South American and West African Fish together in two seperate tanks.

I was wondering if should make them a themed tank where each tank had all SouthAmerican and the other had all West African.

Or should i just.... Put everyone in a...

Standard 55 Gallon
South American/West African Fussion Tank!!

Where Everybody is Happy!!! YAY!! =^.^=

Plus i know the rope fish and the Black Ghost Knife will grow long.

Can't decide.. they all look nice! wether i keep them in separate 10 gallons for now... or move them in one big happy tank filled with lots and lots of live plants rooted abd floating =^.^=.

What do you guys think =^.^=?

oh the black ghost knife and rope fish is not in the same 10 gallon. They are in a separate 10 gallon each. and they are both very small. forgot to mention everything else in those tanks are very small. =^.^=

But yeah the more i think about it the more i have the urge to buy another 55gallon! Maybe put lots and lots of plants in that tank! Some big swords, Japanese moss balls, and some floating sensitive plants, and water mosiac.

Fun Fun! =^.^=

Well besides the wierd craming of fish i have =^.^=;;

What do you think of the idea of mixing those fish in a nice fussion themed tank =D not in terms of compatibility but in terms of umm uh.. Looking nice! well i think it looks nice 0.o but.. what do you guys think =^.^= i should draw a picture of it on paint and post it for fun =^___^=

i'd say put them all together and get Pics

I have a BGK in with two senegals, two angels and a juruense. Everybody gets along fine til feeding and the bigger sen goes into the knifes cave and the knife chases him out.

yes yes i will take pics when i actually get the tank and everythign set up! =^.^=
yeah probably around feeding time every one will go crazy... African butterflys too maybe =^.^=. hmm if things grow too big ill trade them in for smaller size with a wholesaler or somebody! =^.^= hmm do you think that that plant/fish ratio is good enough to make it a heavly planted tank, almost like a planted tank =D? ok that didnt sound like it made sense lol.

Also... would it be a problem with leaf fish and african butterflys since leaf fish sometimes hang out near the surface... where the african butterflys might be territorial... or... would there be enough space since itz like a 4 foot long tank =D?

uhh... yeah I can't wait to get started. my parents won't know till itz too late! Kekekke =^.^=

You'll definitely need a bigger tank soon. Bichirs grow very fast!
I think they'd all be happy in a 55 for quite a while. And mixng them shouldn't be a problem since they all like a rather low pH anyway.
And since all your fish like a low pH, you can add dead oak leaves (or something similar) and make your own coconut caves. My senegals love coconut caves and my Leopard bushfish sometimes hide in there too.
Good luck with your fish!

Wow nice dp of a leopard bush fish you got! =^_^= yes yes for now the bichirs should be fine, i dont really plan on keeping them when they get any bigger than 5inches, Just trade them in for smaller Bichirs and start all over again! =D and i got alot of drift wood with nice nooks and holes in them all over the place, team drift wood should make Ph level very happy! =^_^= and the knife fish enjoys the drift wood, looks nicer i think than putting piping in the tank. Coconut caves sounds interesting, i never thought about that before. =D

Now one thing im a lil tiny bit worried about is the African Butterfly fish, being territorial on the surface and their behaviour towards a few mid-top swimming fish, like the leaf fish which floats like a dead leaf near the surface sometimes
(I love it when they do that btw). Don't Mind if they may chase the leaf fish a lil bit, but worried they might nibble on them or something... which i don't think will happen. But you never know =S Hopefilly they won't =^___^=
