Howdy! planning on building a sump for my 276 gal. tank next year and have a few doubts...
1. it wont be against any wall, and i dont want any pipes showing. is it possible to have a water drainage system turned on/off by a valve on the tanks bottom (cut a hole on the bottom glass and seal it with a grid, so only water is drained and not the fish)?
2. is it possible to have a water reservatory for partial WC so i wouldnt have to apply aquasafe all the time?
well, heres a sketch i made to illustrate better what i mean...:headbang2

Possible?... Yes

Dangerous?... Oh Yes.

There are electric valves available but they can get pricey.

You still have the return line outside & showing.

A water reservoir is very possible and a very good idea (but your looking at 60g for your tank).

you mean dangerous because of possible leakage problems? as fot the valve, it wouldnt be electric, at least for the draining one...for the return line into the reservoir would it have to be electric? cuz the draining one can work by gravity but the one that fills the reservoir i dont think so...
as for retrun line outside thats showing i dont know how to hide it...any ideas welcome...

outro brasileiro!?! Boa sorte com este projeto!

Yes for leakage.

You don't need an electric valve on the return, a check valve will suffice.

You could drill a second hole in the bottom for the return and just bring a clear (or black) tube up to the surface to return water to the tank.
