Wet/dry circulation

I have an aquaone 980 tank, which has a really good overhead wet dry trickle filter, but the water circulation is crap.

I stopped using it in favour of internals to create a better current, but recently seen some fluval powerheads advertised for saltwater set-ups.

Would a powerhead work to create better circulation, or would it get clogged up quickly?

A powerhead/wave maker does wonders for circulation.

Look at jebao wavemakers the model wp40 is more than needed for my 125 gallon. Great flow
