Wet dry doesnt provide enough mechanical filtration

My wet dry just doesnt seem to provide enough mechanical filtration. Always seem to have small particle in the water. I dont want to put a internal filter and dont have room for HOB.

Tank is 265 and running 2 Mag drive 18 with 2 - dual overflow boxes. Wet dry has bio balls with quilt batting in 1 drip tray. Water changes every 1-2 weeks about 40%. Heavy Bio load, feed frozen smelt,shrimp, pellets.

Any suggestion to improve the mechanical filtration in my wet dry?

Anyone ever try adding addition drip tray to wet dry or modification to drip tray?
