It has been a long time since i have had a wet dry and my question is if i run a suitable sized wet dry does that give me enough oxygen in the water or do i need surface agitation when the water goes back into the tank? I beleive from what i remember that it does give you all the oxygen in the water that you need. lookin for a little confirmation. Thanks, Kevin

To elaborate; a wet/dry filter doesn't actually produce O2. In fact, the aerobic bacteria in the bio-chamber uses up quite a bit of O2 itself. Most of the O2 in this type of system is derived from the air/water contact dwell time within the overflow plumbing. Additional O2 enters the system from the air/water contact at the roiling outflow (provided your outlet plumbing is above or at the water's surface). If you're housing a moderate to heavy bio-load, the addition of airstones and/or venturi-valved powerheads can be added.
