I picked up a Pro Clear Aquatics model Pro 300 (used) for the wet dry on my 300 gal. I didn't know it was a salt water wet dry when i bought it. The inlet drains in a box for a protein skimmer instead of over the filter pad. Will this be a problem for a freshwater setup or should I modify it to flow over filter pad. Or i thought about running a phosphate reactor in place of the skimmer and not modding it at all. Question two anyone know where I can purcahse 1 1/2 slip fit flex hose 6'. It came with 3' and they are way too short.

Here's a pic for reference.

thanks in advance for any input.

You shouldn't have a problem using this wet dry, I would just remove the protein skimmer since you won't be using it. The filter is designed to have the water fill the protein skimmer chamber then as the water level rises it would then flow over the blue filter pad over the drip plate. So the only real difference is that your going to have the larger particulate waste settle in the first chamber instead of clogging up your filter pad, sort of a settling chamber (just make sure to clean this chamber often). The phosphate reactor would be up to you depending on how much phosphate is in your water.
As to your second question, sorry I have no idea where you would get the flex hose.

Thanks for the info this is the first wet/dry I've setup. Can I put my heaters in the same area? Will it keep the tank heated?

Unfortunately my 300 has no built in overflows as that probably is the best place. There is plenty of room under bio balls, that's where I'll place them and keep checking temp while tank is cycling. If not I'll place them intank. Thanks

I keep my heaters in my sump and I put a heater controller temp probe in my tank. I set my heaters to 90 degrees and I set my controller to turn on the heaters at 80. Warm water flows from my sump into my tank until it reaches 80. Works great and the fish can't break the heaters and the heaters are out of site.
