I found a good deal on a 60"Lx28"Wx24"H tank. I was leaning towards a eheim pro IIII but decided that if I was going to fork out that much money I might as well get a wet/dry. I'm horrible at diy projects and am mechanically challenged :screwy: . I want to put a wet/dry rated for up to 300 gal because like a lot of folks I have a tendancy to get carried away on impulse buys and my tanks end up being heavily stocked. The problem is I'm having trouble finding one online. All the LFS around me charge way too much for one. I like the set up of the AGA Megaflow but they only make one thats rated up to 240 gallons. Would that be enough for my heavily stocked 174? I would really rather have a bigger wet/dry for a 300. Where can I find a similar wet/dry that can support a tank up to 300 gallons. If I get a wet/dry that big do you think I need to suppliment it with something for mechanical filtration? Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks!

thanks for the link. i kind of want one that i can see through so i see if the filter media needs cleaning or what not without having to take it out. but for that price i will keep that option open.

^thanks for that link too but those are up to 200 gal only. i'm looking for something that can hold more bio media for tanks up to 300gal. am i just trying to do too much for the 174 gal? also do you guys think i'd need to a suppliment filter for mechanical filtration?

Get a 55 gallon tank and two of the deals Dr. Joe posted, have the side of the 55 drilled with the hole leading to an external pump and you're good.

I'm doing something like this on a 300 gallon using two 55's joined together (I'm making the plexiglass wet/dry part though.) 55's are dirt cheap used, check craigslist/ebay/classifides.

If you're wanting cheaper, use a rubbermaid tote with plastic shelving that has drawers.
