I might get a 180 gal in sometime soon and I keep hearing great things about wet/dry filters I wanna use it for the 180.

However, I know NOTHING about how it works and how to set it up.

Can someone explain exactly how a wet/dry is supposed to work and how to connect it to the main tank? One of the issues I'm confused about is moving water between the main tank and the filter.

Can someone explain how the bioballs work? That link is good but there are still some things I dont understand. Also, would it be possible to use a syphon to get the water out of the tank? I dont really wanna drill a hole in my tank.

they make hang on overflows
could prob pick one up on ebay pretty cheap
bioballs work by having a very large surface area on them where the bacteria can grow
the more bacteria u have the better The bacteria eat the bad stuff in your water. nitrates

yea.. i have a w/d on my 180.. its great... where in ny ar you im in staten island
