How often do you clean out the mechanical filter part of your wet dry? I am of course
referring to the foam, wool filter and prefilter foam of your wet dry? I just want to see
how often that gets maintained.

I clean mine every 2-3 weeks. I just rinse the pads in aquarium water and gently massage
it until it stops leaching dirt. The filter floss gets replaced after 3 weeks and i hardly touch the prefilter pads on my overflow.

I'm still trying to sort mine out, but the past week I've had to rinse the filter floss out twice.

I just stuck some egg crate under the media so hopefully it won't clog as fast since the drip plate concentrated the crud above the holes and overflowed..

Weekly with water change as well...

im surprised how a lot of people are doing frequent maintenance on their wet/dry.
I pay more attention to my canisters to be honest.

i dont even mess with my canisters unless the flow slows down. as far as my wet dry i rince when it gets bad looking usually 2 weeks. now that the rays are in there it might go to once a week...

Hey Nic, i just get paranoid if my canisters dont get cleaned after 2 weeks. Just imagine 15 pieces of shrimp every feeding time and where does it all go ? I do water changes every 3 days but i want it foolproof ( or close to it ) . ;)
