Say you build a wet/dry for a 180gal using a 55gal sump. What kind/size pump do you need for the return?

Thanks

I usually aim for a pump 3-5x the tank volume per hour. Keep in mind this will be effected by plumbing and height.

mag 7 or mag 9 would work. anywhere between a 700gph to 1000gph pump will work just watch out for the cheap pumps that don't have high head ratings. how high will the tank be? the higher you go the larger the pump you will need.

ricky,

As for your tank it only have 1 overflow is mag drive 7 or 9 is perfect for your tank set up. I would go with mag 9 just incase because of the heigh of your stand.

Build the sump it self it not any issue.

Works for me.
