Ok here is my soon to be setup....200g 96x24x20H, with 1 center trap 15"x5" with 2, 1" drains & 2, 3/4" returns. I'm going to have a Bio-rocker wet/dry sump underneath that will drain about 1.5" foot straight down, and I'll have 2 Durso Stands. For anyone that has a similar setup, how do you do a quick water change? I'll have a window about a 1.5' from the back of the tank, so I could run a hose right outside my yard. Any advice and how to go about this, having Durso stands will stop the flow when it get to a little below the figner level.....

I just use a drip system so I dont have to worry about water changes. Drill a drain in the sump where you want the level to stay, drip X gallons per hour...and dont worry about water changes:)

:( thats too bad. I used to do my big tank by stretching a host out of the door and draining half of the water, and then refill it with warm water.

Actually, I think I came up with a good idea....I'm going to have one Durso drain at regular level, and then one Str8 pipe with a cap about 6-7"s below, and just take the cap off when I want to drain 30-35% out of the tank, and shoot it out the window with the attached vaccum hose....

use a ball valve instead of a cap...it would be a lot easier:)

I use a python to do water changes on all my tanks which add up to a total of 560 gallons, over 1000 once I get my giant tank done but I am seriously considering plumbing that one with a drip and drain

I'll use a pyton to fill, but to drain would take far too long...... As stated I'm going to set one of the drain pipes at 13-14"s (tank height is 20"s) in height and let it gush out the winder. I figure it will drain down to the tube in 3-4 minutes (60-70 gallons)......

if i had the room i would use a 1" or 1 1/4" pipe dipped in the tank level on 30% water change... and a tee on the top of the tank with a plug then goes down thank with a ball valve. connected to a 1 1/4" pipe drain to lessen the back pressure. basically it's more like a semi-auto siphon type. if you're ready for the first time i would fill the drain pipe to have a temporary siphon going.. open the ball valve and all it goes out. (don't forget to put a pre-filter to avoid fish going in)

with regards to puting water back i would have a tee connected to the drain end. if your ready to fill it up just plug your garden hose or use an aged water and pump to connect it in.

sound complicated but im not good in drawing. can't show you what it looks like. it's mostly like a phyton but hard piping.:grinyes:
