k, so im leanin towards settin up a wet dry for a 210g. im gonna have an over flow cuz my tank isnt drilled. so my question is how do i regulate the water flow out of the filter system and back into the tank? so that the water flow coming in isnt too much that my pump cant pump it out fast enough and flood my wetdry.

thanks

Your overflow will never flow more than your pump puts out, so you don't need to regulate the returns.

If your overflow is to small to keep up with the pump, you will over fill your tank (water wont drain fast enough.)

To fix that, T the return line, stick a ball valve on there, and have the water from that leading back into the sump. Never restrict your pumps flow, it shortens the life of the pump.

Myth, see the return pump thread.

Don't restrict only if it is a positive displacement pump.

:Iagree:and if the pump is too big, do the T thing. Then you will get more flow over the wet/dry

Intresting read Bud. They also mentioned the efficiency drops as you restrict, and the heat output rises.

Regardless of that, knowing you can restrict the flow somewhat without damage and save some change is good to know.

I do like the idea of feeding it back through the trickle filter media Radley, if ya have the extra GPH, might as well put it to work.
