hey i have a question bout theese. when using a wet/dry how do u get the water to pump the same amount out as is coming into it so that the pump doesnt suck dry and burn out or so the tank doesnt overflow and you suck more out of aquarium than wats coming back into it???? any help???
thanks

Not really sure what you're asking.

You use an overflow box, or similar device, and the water from the tank overflows into the sump at the same rate the pump is pumping it in. It can't oveflow faster than the pump is putting it into the tank because the water rises up to the top of the oveflow box then overflows it. If the pump shuts off the water can only drop to the level of the lip on your overflow box.

The pump compartment can't get sucked dry unless your overflow is clogged and isn't flowing any water into the sump. As your pump pumps water into the tank it's draining back into the sump through your overflow.

Water is coming out of the tank at the same rate the pump is pumping it in.
Water is being pumped into the tank at the same rate it's overflowing into the sump because the gallons per hour on your pump determines your whole systems flow rate.

Good point is to make sure your overflow can handle the flow of the pump. For instance if your overflow is rated to lets say 600gph then make sure you are arent a 1200gph pump unless you have a valve to restrict the flow. (Keep in mind that through turns and over distance the pump does lose flow.
