wet dry ?

ok i rigged something up but im not sure it actually does much i put a bunch of sponges into containers in an all glass 10 gallon then i buried them undergravel i rigged an old backdrop filter to sit under all this.

I also had another old backdrop that i put beside it to skim the top (a short tube and a long one) not sure if this does anything bseides basic back drop filtration.

I was thinking of setting this inside a sump thats larger or is this just pointless.

rigged up a new sump a 33 gallon with a diveder in the middle it was a half rebuild for my 33 gallon my intake would be on one side of the diveder and my outtake on the other one side containing some diy filtration.
