I was trying to create wet dry action on my tank! So i got 20 of the black rena stars that float on the water, and made a long basket that fits on the 1 foot opening on my acrlic. Then i have all the stars media flaoting on the water in the basket then i have a 1 foot spray bar blowing clean water on them. Is this concept a way to get massive colony of bacteria, since they are getting water and air constantly and they are in the dark.

ive had the same idea my self sort of.
my idea was a basket also with floating media and i power head blasting into the basket witrh the verturi on. it would blast the media round and round in the basket.
it sounds good to me but it could be conciderd unsightly and noisy compaird to othe form of filtation.
