I have been following this forum for a while and think it might be fun to try and make a wet dry filter for my 125. What size sump would you guys recommend and how much rom deticated to bio balls? Also I am not the most handy and the one thing I can't figure out what is the best way to connect the tube from the overflow to the sump over the bio balls? Thanks

I'm using a 3 foot sump (about 30 gal) on my 110 with around half of it dedicated to bio media (scrubbies under a drip plate).

Most people seem to run a mechanical filter chamber before the bio media. The water runs over a partition and onto the drip plate.

Id look for a free or super cheap 55g cuz u will appreciate the added height n I'd run a layer of mech in a drip tray over probably half the sump. Fill that side with bioballs n use egg crate to keep it off the bottom.

One word I can say about maintenance is that you want to make it easy if you have an chance of water by passing your mech filter. I had a 55 gallon sump that I used a filter sock on, when it got clogged water would flow past the filter sock. Because of this by pass the bottom of the sump after about a year was full of nasty gunk that needed to be cleaned,
