wet dry

i have been toying with the idea of adding a wet dry to my 125. I would have to use an overflow box. Are the overflow boxes quite? the last tank I had was drilled and the overflow was really loud even with the stand alone pipe or what ever it is called

I have a herbie overflow system using two stand pipes. it's as quiet as anything! just a hum from the pump

My external overflow is made by CPR Aquatics and it is silent. The thing to consider with an overflow is flow. To much and i will flush, to little and it will gurrgle. The Herbie and Durso designs are designed to overcome these issues and for the most part they work great. You will have to fine tune your set-up to optimize flow and it could be a little trial and error but once its set it should be set for good...until you change return pumps....
