i dont kow if this would go here or not but i learnd not to keep my laptop near while doin a water change because sometimes the hose falls out of the the tank and soaks your laptop happend lastnight

flooded my tank one, and it overflowed onto my laptop....

I feel ya bro!

It's not necessarily dead. You MUST turn it off, drain out any water you can, and get a large bag of rice to put the laptop in ASAP. Rice absorbs moisture very well-- in humid places many people put grains of rice in their salt shakers to keep the salt from crystallizing from the humidity.

I did the same thing with my iPhone, and was able to recover most of the parts. It depends on how much water got on it and how long it stayed turned on while wet, but if you take the battery out and put the laptop in rice for a week, you have a good chance at salvaging it.

ill try the rice but it still sorks just the screen stays back and the guy at the computer store said to plug it in to my tv and see if its the screen or the video card

The rice trick only works if the laptop wasn't turned on and hasn't been turned on before putting into the rice.

Typically the way that you would do it is that directly after the spill as long as it isn't sparking up unplug it, take out the battery and put into the rice to absorb moisture for a few days.

Since you turned it on with possible moisture still present the damage has already been done.
