For those of you that have wet pets and filtering the tank with a canister filter specifically...

How often do you clean the filter?

I clean mine every week. Filters are to reduce debris and particles, water changes are to reduce nitrates.

awesome.

are your guys filters still not filthy when you clean them? when i clean mine the filter pads aren't super dirty and the biomedia isn't covered in ****. i always say to myself "well, this isn't as gross as i thought it would be."

this is just my midevil tank though. the 45 with the convict and barbs is a different story haha.

My jag is around 12 and his filters are nasty when I clean them in a 125T. I haven't been doing my ridex treatments like I use to though. He's a very messy eater.
