Wet pet for a 35 hex

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You want some easy to take care community fish. I vote for:
  • neon tetras
  • rummy nose tetas
  • flame dwarf gourami
  • neon blue dwarf gourami
  • powder blue dwarf gourami
  • ram cichlids
  • cory cats
  • Botia kubotai loach
Keep the amount of fish small, that way water doesn't foul too quickly. Pea puffers are cute, but still a puffer that nips.

It's currently a community tank, I was looking to transition it to one to three fish (top, middle, bottom) with a tad more size and personality

  • The only true top fish that would fit is an african butterfly fish (predator so anything smaller will be eaten)
  • Middle, almost all other fish are middle fish
  • Bottom fish, well we have the cories/loaches/plecos

I just moved out everything but the Cory cats (6)and bristle nose plecos (3 growing out) it had two gourami 6 black skirts, and two platies

Could stock 3 green green spot puffers, they seem to occupy all levels of the tank

Not unless he wants to go high end brackish almost marine...

Aso not to mention a GSP as adults get to a decent size so 3 in that size tank wont work in the long run...

I don't think any traditional "wet pet" is going to work in that footprint but you still have some good options for species that are much more interesting then run of the mill community fish. A few apistogramma could work in there. Maybe a pair of rainbow cichlids but I'm not sure of the footprint of that hex. Perhaps a pair of a smaller species of jewel cichlids but breeding activity could end up with one killed if it can't escape. Kribensis also stay smaller and could be cool in there.
