What’s the gender of my Red Devil

wanna hear something goofy?? I had 2 feamale red devils given to me back in the 90's when I was workin in a aquarium store part time. had them alone in my kids tank in his bedroom. these things laid eggs relentlessly for months and months maybe even a year or so. one day my son came running downstairs (about 7yrs old then) yelling he see's wigglers!!!! god damn he was right!!!! told my boss at the time about it, he said some fish have to been known to change gender to ensure species survival LOL. I thought maybe it was the dope I was smoking at the time ha ha ha ha. ill never forget that

Interesting, haven't seen that as a natural morph. But have seen other similar weirdness. I would guess male but it can be tricky with RD's. If you can get a close up shot of vent, that would help.
Ended up a female lol. Came home today and saw she layed some eggs against the wall.
It's always funny when that happens, and looks like shes doing fine with no tail
Yeah I was going to guess a female because from what I heard if the gill plate doesn't extend past the gills then it is usually a female
