I got home and all the tanks looked fine, all was well. Went to petsmart to buy some pre-filter for the fluval canister i got on craigslist monday, get back one of the AC 50s on my 45 gallon isn't working. Thinking, huh, that's odd i took it apart but the motor was really really hot. Well i tried to plug it in when it had cooled down and nope, motor was totally dead.

Thinking It was crappy but fine since the fluval was about to get set up, I fixed everything up on that unit tubes in the tank, i plug it in, sparks, i think it short circuited. Unbelievable. Praying it was just a fuse blown.. I know it was fine at the guys house cuz he set it up for me and there were no problems, I just really don't even know what to say right now. But I got to figure something out cuz there's currently only a single AC50 not filtering a 45 gallon tall.

Good thing there's only 3 fish in it so far :irked:

apparently the fluval just wasn't level, but i can't get it to prime... any advice?

priming them can be hard. make sure it is full to the brim first. then fill the tubes manually, holding the ends until they are under water (like starting a siphon). Mine takes a little while even with all that help but after a few minutes the water gets moving. It can also help to partially block the outlet but leave the pump on full (throttling the outlet on any pump will help prime). I hear you on the bad days. One of my xenon lights fell so it was directly on top of my brand new Fluval Edge and it cracked the top glass from all its heat. Tank is still OK b/c it was the top, but the crack is ugly.

i finally got it running a while back, did basically what you said and it finally worked which is relieving, sucks about the AC50 still, looked it up replacement motor and impeller is like $20+ shipping, may as well just buy a new one haha
