woke up this Am to a peacock eel on the floor dead.. and another one almost dead. the almost dead one seems to have recovered well but is pretty tore up from the carpet. No clue why they decided to jump... they live with guppies and 2 clown plecos. the only logical reasoning is maybe the plecos bred and got territorial? So to be safe for everyone i tossed the poor guy inot my QT tank to recover...

now my 3 fire eels who normally scuffle abit... world war 3... :irked: my largest one is not only picking on the usual smaller one... but also the one I belived it was bonded too. she i think..or he.. Has capitilized the PVC main tube... and relentlessly attacking the other 2 anytime they so much as look at the opening ends. They've all had scuffles in the past but have had a pecking order for the last few monthes that everyone seemed to live with. It's the same eel too. Far as I can tell nothing has changed... I haven' done anything new lately to the tank. the biggest one i pushing 24" now and the other 2 about 18-20"

So goes my plans for haveing a social life tonight.. I gotta stay home and fish-sit to make sure no one else decides to try jumping or flat out killing their tank mates. :irked: seperateing them is not gonna be fun if I have to.

That sucks. Same thing happened to me except my black leopard eel relentlessly attacked my larger tire track and fire eel after living peacefully for quite some time. I had to separate and eventually sold that black leopard as it was extremely aggressive and extremely greedy. Sold the fire and the tire track committed suicide quite a while back. I only have a borneo python eel left.

BTW
If you ever decide to get rid of one of them, let me know! I currently need a large eel for my 320g.

Good luck!

Just ticking me off.. lol.. I got 3 so I would hopefully get a pair out of them. Eventually I'de like to try breeding them. Bad enough I have to push my indoor pond back yet again. I'm down to 1 peacock, one tire track, and the 3 fires now.. -.-.. different tanks.. 'cept the fires 'm trying to get paired off. Where did you pick up your Borneo? I haven't seen 'em 'n my lfs hasn't even heard of them.. 'n I don't trust his distributor to know wth the difference is since I had to order a TT 2x.. first time the distributor sent zig zags.. granted the one I did get is gorgeous.

I did plan on letting one of the fires go that didn't pair off, or adding to my collection of them.. but w/ the indoor pond on hold I'll prolly end up letting one go 'n getting more when I have the pond done.

I got my borneo from a distributor on MFK (can't remember which one) quite a while ago. The only other time I've seen or heard of them were from people overseas. Haven't seen or heard of anyone else (if I'm remembering correctly) having them in the states. If you find someone, let me know.

But keep me in mind if you decide to let one go. What are you feeding your fires?

Earthworms/nightcrawlers. So far they only nibble at other stuff.

1) mister peacock thats left was poking his head out of the java this morning and came flitting out for abit. He looks like he's going to make it! Yay! just gotta keep an eye out for an infection 'n such. So he's staying in the bare bottom QT tank for another week or so yet. Also haven't seen the plecos out at all in the past 24 hours. debateing on picking up the driftwood or leaveing it. If they are breeding don't wanna disturb them.

2) war of the worlds seems to be at a cease fire... I turned the tank light off.. and everyone chilled. which is the exact opposite I thought would happen... You'de think w/ the lights off the big one would come out 'n get more bossy. It didn't.. it just kinda flopped 'n chilled and stopped chaseing the other 2. there are a couple of good nips on the smaller guys but nothing seriouse enough to seperate atm. rough and tumble crowd :screwy:

I hear ya. Lets keep our fingers crossed. Good luck!

Thanks! :D mister peacock is doing well and I plan on putting him back into his guppy tank this week. The fires have settled down for the most part but the "single" male? has a few more scuffies :irked:.. the bigger they get the more they fight. The other 2 are content to hole up together and nip at eachother only during feeding. I swear these guys think they are cichlids sometimes :screwy:
